Helium Recovery Facility

The Helium Recovery Facility provides centralized recovery and reliquification of Helium for participating labs in the North Campus area. Participants receive a credit for the Helium they recover, resulting in a reduced net cost for the Liquid Helium used in their experimental apparatus.

Helium gas boil off from the labs is piped to the Helium Recovery Facility located at 38 Oxford St. where it is purified and reliquified. Liquid Helium needs of participating labs are supplied by the Facility through a combination of reliquefied recovered Helium and new supply from an outside vendor.

Facility staff provide consultation in strategies to maximize Helium recovery and efficient use of Liquid Helium to assist participants in minimizing their Liquid Helium expenses.
